UCI G Suite Setup
for Faculty, Staff, Sponsored and Group Accounts

UCI Gmail is part of UCI G Suite which includes other services as well. You may use those other services in the UCI G Suite with or without using UCI Gmail.


Faculty, Staff, Sponsored and Group Accounts wanting to use UCI G Suite but not UCI Gmail

* Exceptions: Those in Health Affairs should not use UCI G Suite for business purposes.

  1. Activate and set a password for your UCI G Suite account.
  2. Log into UCI G Suite.

New Faculty, Staff, Sponsored, and Group Accounts wanting to use UCI G Suite including UCI Gmail.

* Exceptions: Those in Health Affairs, departments using Outlook/Exchange and those supported by OIT Desktop Support Services should NOT switch email services to UCI Gmail.

  1. Activate your UCInetID.
  2. Activate and set a password for your UCI G Suite account.
  3. Change your email delivery point by following these instructions.
  4. Log into UCI Gmail.

Current Faculty, Staff, Sponsored, and Group Accounts currently using any other mail service and wanting to use UCI G Suite including UCI Gmail

* Exceptions: Those in Health Affairs, current Outlook/Exchange users and those supported by OIT Desktop Support Services should NOT switch to UCI Gmail.
These steps change where new email to your @uci.edu address is delivered.
Moving previously received email to your UCI Gmail mailbox is a separate procedure ("migrating") noted below.

  1. Activate and set a password for your UCI G Suite account.
  2. Change your email delivery point by following these instructions.
  3. Log into UCI Gmail.

    Before migrating email from your old email account to UCI Gmail, please consult with your department Computing Support Coordinator. If you are migrating email from a personal Gmail account to UCI Gmail, see our FAQ for specific information.
